Veterans Hiring Event Connects Heroes to Opportunity in Greater Houston

Mar 18, 2026

The Salvation Army of Greater Houston recently hosted an outstanding hiring event dedicated to veterans and community; the impact was immediate and inspiring.

With strong community support and meaningful employer engagement, the event created a pathway for veterans to connect, network, and pursue new career opportunities in a welcoming and supportive environment.

By midday, at least 10 attendees had already received conditional job offers from participating employers, reflecting the strength of the connections made on-site. The event welcomed 26 employers and 181 job seekers, demonstrating both the need and the community’s commitment to supporting those who have served our country.

In addition to employment opportunities, 45 veterans received complimentary haircuts during the event, an important service that helps build confidence for interviews and professional advancement. The volunteer barbers were especially excited to debut their new donated barber chairs, sharing heartfelt appreciation and calling the upgraded setup a wonderful surprise.

We extend sincere thanks to the many employers and organizations whose participation made this event possible, including International Cooling Tower, Gulf Coast Barber College, Veterans Faith Initiative, Acadian Ambulance, Aviation Institute of Maintenance, Effex, METRO, The Kebab Shop, RCS Personnel, Goodwill Houston, Harris County Sheriff's Office, NDT Consultancy Services, City of Houston Human Resources, The Rose, Texas Veterans Commission, Allied Universal, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Core Personnel Staffing, Amtex Insurance, ADM Security Solutions, Construction Career Collaborative, and First Student.

We were also honored by the presence of Clay Britton, Deputy Chief of Staff for Twila Carter, whose support underscored the importance of community partnerships in expanding opportunities for veterans.

Events like this remind us of the power of collaboration and the impact of standing alongside those who have served and our community. The Salvation Army and its partners continue to help veterans transition from service to meaningful civilian careers with dignity and hope.
