Sonia’s journey has been filled with hardships growing up in foster care, experiencing domestic violence, battling addiction, and enduring years of homelessness. Yet, through it all, she clung to her relationship with God and held on to hope for a better future. When Sonia connected with a Salvation Army case manager, she was ready for change. With encouragement, accountability, and support, she began rebuilding her life one step at a time.
Today, Sonia has a place that she proudly calls her own. She beams as she shows her case worker her kitchen, the “nicest kitchen” she’s ever had and her carefully written scriptures taped to the walls as daily reminders of God’s truth.
She is thriving, actively involved in her community, attending support groups, and dreaming of becoming a certified peer counselor to help others walk the same path to recovery and stability.
