Mentorship, Scholarships, and Bright Futures: Youth of the Year 2025

Oct 8, 2025

The Salvation Army Youth of the Year Program is a yearly initiative that provides life-changing opportunities for children ages 12 to 18, helping them accumulate scholarship funds to pursue college education or trade school.

For the past 20 years, The Salvation Army of Greater Houston has been dedicated to empowering young people who may not otherwise have the chance to pursue their dreams. Many of these students begin with only a “blurry dream” of what their future could look like, but through this program, those aspirations are transformed into tangible goals.

At the heart of this program are the Youth of the Year Ambassadors, mentors and leaders who dedicate their time to tutoring, guiding, and inspiring students to reach their full potential. Their commitment has not only opened doors of opportunity but also provided a foundation of hope and encouragement that many of our youth desperately need.

This year’s program launched in September with a day of introductions, agreements, and applications. New and returning students had the chance to meet with their ambassadors and begin a journey filled with mentorship, encouragement, and support.

With each new year, the Youth of the Year Program continues to be a beacon of hope. When a child is given the tools, support, and belief in their future, their possibilities are limitless.
