Growing with Grace: Women’s Auxiliary Celebrates President’s Luncheon & New Leadership

Jun 16, 2025

This May, The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Greater Houston gathered in grand style to celebrate the annual President’s Luncheon, a cherished tradition that honors leadership, legacy, and service.

Held in a beautifully decorated setting filled with joy, elegant flowers, and warmth fellowship, the luncheon marked the official installation of new executive officers, as well as a heartfelt transition of leadership from outgoing Chair Maureen Higdon to Incoming Chair Susan Binney.

Maureen Higdon’s dedicated leadership over the past year was recognized with deep appreciation. Her passion and commitment to serving those in need has left a lasting impact, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who follow. With grace and gratitude, she handed the torch to Susan Binney, whose enthusiasm, vision, and spiritual grounding set the tone for a powerful new chapter.

As Susan lovingly said during her acceptance remarks, this year will be about “Growing with Grace.”

The event was more than a luncheon, it was a celebration of women united by faith and purpose, whose mission is singular and clear: to serve the most vulnerable in our community through the work and ministry of The Salvation Army.

We extend a heartfelt welcome to our new executive team, and we pray that God continues to bless their efforts, guide their decisions, and multiply the fruit of their labor.

With unwavering faith and servant hearts, these women are truly Doing the Most Good.

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
