Caring for Those Who Once Cared for Us: Supporting Our Seniors
At The Salvation Army, we believe in honoring and caring for the generations who paved the way before us. Our Seniors’ Programs at Aldine Westfield, Temple, and Pasadena Corps provide more than just meals and activities they offer community, dignity, and purpose.
Every day, seniors gather at our centers for fellowship, recreation, and educational opportunities that keep them active and engaged. From health and wellness workshops to Bible studies, creative arts, shared meals and sometimes vacation trips, these programs remind our seniors that they are valued, loved, and never alone.
For many, the joy of connecting with friends, having a safe place to belong, and being part of a supportive community makes all the difference. “This program gives me something to look forward to, It’s family to me.” a Pasadena senior participant said.
With the support of volunteers and donors, we’re able to continue providing these life enriching opportunities. But the need continues to grow.
Here’s how you can help: Volunteer your time to serve meals, lead activities, simply spend time with seniors, or make a donation to ensure our programs remain strong and sustainable.
Together, we can continue to bless the lives of those who once gave so much to us.
"Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity." 1 Timothy 5:1-2 (NIV)
