Barbara Bush Children’s Library Opens at The Salvation Army RSYC Aldine Westfied
The Salvation Army of Greater Houston is thrilled to announce the official opening of the Barbara Bush Children’s Library at the Red Shield Youth Center in Aldine Westfield! This exciting milestone was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation, Ladies for Literacy, The Salvation Army’s Area Commanders, Aldine Westfield Corps Officers, Majors Green, and staff from The Salvation Army Greater Houston.
This beautiful new space was designed to be more than just a library it is a gateway to opportunity. Through this addition, children and youth in the Aldine Westfield community now have greater access to books, educational resources, and a quiet space to grow in knowledge, creativity, and imagination.
The benefits of the library are far-reaching:
Promoting Literacy, Building Confidence, Encouraging Lifelong Learning, and Strengthening Community.
As Mrs. Barbara Bush once said, “The most important thing we can do is to read to our children, and to ensure that literacy is available to all.”
The new Barbara Bush Children’s Library carries forward her legacy and reminds us that every child deserves the tools to reach their full potential.
