With more than 400 after-school programs nationwide, we foster an environment of learning long after the school day ends. By providing a safe place to study, read, learn, connect with friends, play sports, and enrich the mind, we give at-risk kids a healthy alternative to less-desirable after-school options.
Many children from low-income families rarely experience life outside their immediate neighborhood. That’s why The Salvation Army’s annual summer camp programs are so important. Every year, thousands of kids get a fresh perspective on life as they meet new friends, discover new activities, and get a taste of the great outdoors. As campers learn to swim, play sports, create music, make art, and scout, their trained counselors help them navigate the complicated emotions and struggles often associated with their lives back home.
Our youth community programs enable children to experience music and art education in positive no-cost or low-cost environments. Our wide array of classes focuses on everything from choir, band, and dancing to drawing, writing, and acting.
Each Salvation Army community center is dedicated to equipping parents with the skills needed to support and sustain their children’s educational needs.
