Christmas Volunteering
As the Christmas season is our busiest time of year, we are in need of many volunteers for different activities here at The Salvation Army New Orleans Area Command. Here are a few ways that you can get involved:
- Become a volunteer bell ringer
- Help sign up those in need for Christmas assistance
- Host your own toy drive
- Adopt someone in need from The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree or Silver Bell / Mr. Bingle Program
- Volunteer for the Angel Tree and Silver Bell / Mr. Bingle Program (Lakeside Mall)
- Host your own Angel Tree

Emergency Disaster Services Volunteer
The Salvation Army New Orleans Area Command is looking for Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) volunteers to help serve those in the most need when a disaster strikes. By signing up today, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running when others in our community need us most. Duties include preparing and serving meals on the Disaster Canteen.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or over, complete a volunteer application and pass a background check. The Salvation Army will provide training in regards to using and operating the Disaster Canteen. Volunteers will be on call during local emergencies.
Requirements
- 18 years of age or above
- Background check
- Training / Orientation
- Minimum of 6 months time commitment (on call)
- Able to remain calm under stress

By signing up to be a Salvation Army volunteer today, your application will already be processed and you’ll be ready to go when an opportunity arises! - Host a hygiene kit drive. (shampoo, soap, toothbrush/toothpaste, deodorant, razors, diapers, feminine products)
- Collect linens & towels for our Center of Hope.
- Collect coats, sweaters, gloves and hats for the homeless.
