Emergency Assistance

We provide assistance in the Greater Jackson Area with dignity and respect to the individuals(s) involved.  While our ability to provide services is often determined by available resources, we strive to regularly provide the following services BY APPOINTMENT:

Rental Assistance

The city of Jackson’s Office of Housing and Community Development has joined forces with The Salvation Army of Jackson in the fight to prevent homelessness as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This program provides temporary financial assistance to low-income families or individuals who are struggling to maintain their housing due to COVID-19. An appointment is REQUIRED.

Documentation Required: Court ordered eviction notice, Government issued ID, Social Security cards for all household members, lease agreement, income documentation for the past 2 months, and recent bills.

Food Assistance

The decision between paying bills and feeding your family is an impossible position to be in. The Salvation Army Jackson Corp helps provide nutritious meals to those in need. This includes homeless people of all ages, as well as individuals and families who may be down on their luck and in need of some extra assistance. In addition to addressing the immediate symptoms of food insecurity, our programs are designed to help identify and treat its root cause.

Documentation Required: Government issued ID, Proof of residency

Clothing/Furniture Assistance

Emergency household furnishings or clothing assistance may be needed following a fire, tornado or flood, or when a person is establishing a new household following a period of homelessness. Others may use this service to replace worn-out items that are critical to the home. The Salvation Army offers hope to individuals and families through clothing and/or furniture vouchers. These vouchers can be redeemed at our Family Store and provide relief to families who are suffering through a tragedy.
