The Salvation Army of Tuscaloosa, in partnership with Krispy Kreme and the VA, will visit with VA residents and staff while delivering free donuts.
Held annually on the first Friday in June, National Donut Day is a sweet time to celebrate America’s heroes. The Salvation Army in Chicago celebrated the first National Donut Day in 1938 to help the needy during the Great Depression and to commemorate the work of The Salvation Army’s “Donut Lassies” who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. On June 4, The Salvation Army continues this tradition that was started more than 80 years ago.

The Salvation Army of Greater New Orleans will celebrate National Donut Day in partnership with Hurts Donuts. The Army will deliver donuts to first responders throughout the New Orleans area and Hurts Donuts will display an informational table on Donut Day to share facts about The Salvation Army’s mission in New Orleans.
The Salvation Army of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, sponsored by Krispy Kreme, will deliver donuts to each local city police department, fire department, and local Mayors’ offices in Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Gautier, Pascagoula & Lucedale!
The Salvation Army of Montgomery will be passing out donuts and coffee to veterans at the local VAs.
The Salvation Army of Lake Charles will be giving away free donuts to the first 100 shoppers at their thrift store!
The Salvation Army Birmingham Area Command’s volunteers and staff will deliver donuts to local first responders.
