The Salvation Army Culinary Team Wins 2016 Silver Spoon 

FAIRHOPE, AL – Tuesday The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama culinary team led by award winning chef, Cecil Morris, Oscar Smith and Wayne Davis won first place in the 2016 Point Clear Rotary Club’s 16th Annual ‘Taste of Rotary’ event at the Fairhope Civic Center.

Dozens of participants showcased their best dishes, but it was the Shrimp and Crawfish Étouffée made by The Salvation Army culinary team that won judges over!

Since 2002, The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama has won The Taste of Rotary Silver Spoon 6 times (2002, 2004, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2016).

“We are proud The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama had an impressive showing at the Taste of Rotary event.  The same quality and care our culinary team showcased here, is the same they put in every meal produced to feed the homeless and everyone within The Salvation Army’s care each and every day.” said Major Mark Brown, Area Commander.
