Family Haven Families Pay It Forward to Little Sisters of the Poor
Families at The Salvation Army Family Haven are spreading the love for Valentines Day. Family Haven families come to The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama due to homelessness. These families are often on the receiving end of assistance, but this Valentine’s Day they are able to help lift the spirits of others.
As part of their therapy sessions, families at The Family Haven created over 40 Valentines cards to give to residents at The Little Sisters of the Poor . The families hand delivered the cards to seniors for the occasion. The Little Sisters of the Poor is a home for low income elderly over the age of 60.
“It can be very empowering when you’re in a bad place in your own life to be able to reach out and give to someone else, and still have the courage to smile” said Angel Steadman, Director of Program Services for The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama.
