Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.

The Salvation Army has been serving the needy in the coastal communities of Alabama for nearly 130 years. The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama is managed by Majors Mark and Susan Brown, with more than 60 years of combined experience with The Salvation Army. Our programs are managed by certified and degreed professionals, who are dedicated to the mission of helping the less fortunate. Following are the core programs that we offer our community:
Shelter Program
This program provides overnight and short-term shelter for homeless men.
Project Able
A job placement and job mentoring program for homeless men who are unemployed.
The Salvation Army Family Haven
The Salvation Army Family Haven provides emergency housing for families who are without a home. Families living in the shelter receive two meals a day, a bed for each family member, clothing and transportation, parenting classes, job preparation skills, child care and permanent housing assistance.
Rehabilitation Programs
Work Therapy Rehabilitation Program (CSRC)
Individuals suffering from addiction receive help through housing, nourishing meals, medical care and the opportunity to engage in work therapy.
Dauphin Way Lodge
State certified facility where clients have access to a variety of treatment programs that address the physical, mental, emotional and social needs of each client, as it relates to drug and alcohol addiction.
Social Services
For the out-of-work and the thousands of working poor (who are employed, but still living in poverty), The Salvation Army provides emergency assistance to help these families make it through crisis situations.
Disaster Response Services
In Coastal Alabama, The Salvation Army maintains mobile emergency feeding units to provide around the-clock meals to disaster victims and relief workers.
Seasonal Programs
Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner– Traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are served to hungry individuals each year. The meals are open to anyone who would otherwise go without a hot meal each holiday.
Angel Tree Program– To help make the holidays brighter for the less-fortunate each Christmas season, The Salvation Army distributes Christmas gifts to families in need through The Salvation Army Angel Tree program.
