The Salvation Army began in East London on 2 July 1865, founded by William and Catherine Booth. Today, the international church and charity meets human needs without discrimination in 127 (updated) countries worldwide.

From 1-5 July, 15,000 Salvationists and friends from all 126 countries will gather together near the birthplace of The Salvation Army to commemorate the rich heritage of the last 150 years, celebrate the present and innovate for the future.
