The desire to help people less fortunate is what motivated local mobile businessman, and 13 year Navy veteran, Jacob Johnson.  “The only way to receive blessings is to keep on giving” said Johnson.

After an encounter with a local homeless man in downtown Mobile, Johnson has become passionate about helping the homeless population beginning with the shoes on their feet.  Johnson spearheaded the Happy Soles Shoe Drive.  The campaign accepted new or gently worn sneakers and dress shoes.  Donations came pouring in exceeding 200 pairs!  The shoe donations have been given to the Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama for distribution for people in programs.

“The Salvation Army was excited to work with Mr. Johnson for the shoe drive.  As part of our mission and duty as servants of God, we strive daily to better the lives of people in all of our programs” said Major Mark Brown, Area Commander, The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama.
