SALVATION ARMY CELEBRATES NATIONAL SALVATION ARMY WEEK, MAY 11^th-17^th
Launches 5-Year Strategic Plan to Increase Services

(April 28^th, 2014) Mobile, AL – Every year, The Salvation Army celebrates National Salvation Army Week during the second week of May (11^th – 17^th for 2014). But this year, The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama is looking far beyond just another year of service… five years beyond.

The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama is launching a 5-year Strategic Plan for serving our neighbors in need in Mobile and Baldwin Counties. We are committing to “Elevating Coastal Alabama.”  

The plan consists of three major goals in service:

1. Strengthen Existing Service Programs in Mobile County – Currently our programs focus on Single Men and Women with Children. We will increase case management for each client on their path to self-sufficiency and increase community partnerships to provide services that we do not offer.
2. Expand Services in Mobile County – We will create new programs to house and serve Single Women and Whole Families who are in need. There is currently no program in Coastal Alabama that provides long-term housing and assistance for families with two parents.
3. Expand Services into Baldwin County and other areas with high poverty – We will establish a community service center in Foley and provide case managers that will travel into outlying areas with high poverty such as Bay Minette and Bayou La Batre.

It is estimated that we will need to raise an extra $9 Million over the next five years to make these services available. (To see the detailed plan and implementation strategies, CLICK HERE.)

We’ll be increasing staff, looking for dedicated and regular volunteers, and increasing our fundraising from all sources available. Together, we can Do The Most Good.”

The Salvation Army has been serving Coastal Alabama since 1887 – providing spiritual, social and emotional assistance to our neighbors in need.
