Change the world . . . with your support
New Year Devotion Series, Part 4
“No one has ever become poor by giving.”
Here in the South, we have beautiful trees that line the streets providing not only charm but much-needed shade in the hot summer months. It’s hard to believe that these towering oak or magnolia trees all started from tiny seeds. Our landscape would look completely different if not for these tiny seeds that grew to become majestic trees. This concept is a good illustration of the power of giving. What starts as a small gesture or act of kindness blossoms into a thriving community and a better world.
The Bible also teaches us a lot about the importance of supporting others. Proverbs 11:25 reads, “A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
This year, let’s resolve to do more for those around us. Below are some ways you can engage in the biblical practice of giving:
- Volunteer in support of a cause you care about.
- Donate to a nonprofit you support.
- Become a Friend of the Army with a sustaining monthly gift to The Salvation Army & exponentially increase your impact on your community year-round!
