The Salvation Army serves three hot meals to men, women and children residing at The Salvation Army. Lunch is open to the public daily for anyone who needs a meal. Traditional holiday meals are prepared for residents and the community on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
In 2020, as the world battled a Pandemic, The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham continued to meet the needs of people falling further into pandemic poverty. Since the start of the Pandemic in 2020, The Center of Hope provided 188,736 meals and provided 73,766 lodging accommodations. The Marketplace food pantry allows volunteers to pack nutritious food bags/boxes, and provide toiletry supplies, as needed. We have three food pantries in our four-county footprint, where we provide emergency food boxes to hungry families: The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham, the Alabaster Corps and the Bessemer Corps.
