BESSEMER, Alabama (February 28, 2022) – The Salvation Army Greater Birmingham Area Command’s Bessemer Service Center is excited to launch “S.A.L.T,” the Seasoned Adults Lunch and Teaching program, beginning March 8, 2022. S.A.L.T is a FREE program for seniors, ages 50 and older, offered every Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 AM. S.A.L.T participants will engage in arts and crafts, Bible study, lunch, and fellowship.

S.A.L.T will be held in the newly remodeled multi-purpose annex of The Bessemer Service Center, located at 525 13th Street North Bessemer, AL 35020. Worship services will relaunch March 20, 2022, at 10:45 AM. Worship will be led by Majors Robert and Karen Lyle, Area Commanders and Corps Officers.  The Bessemer Service Center, which closed five years ago due to financial restructuring, served as an active Community Corps of The Salvation Army for more than 70 years. Renovations of BSC’s Annex and Chapel are expected to be fully completed by the end of March- just in time for Easter Sunday services.

Major Robert Lyle, Greater Birmingham Area Commander and 614 Corps Officer, says The Army is looking forward to ministering with the people of Bessemer and Western Jefferson County. “We’ve been out in the community, meeting and praying with neighbors, and believing the Lord will guide our steps here.”
S.A.L.T launches March 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM, and worship services will begin March 20, 2022, at 10:45 AM.
