The Salvation Army Continues Its Lunch Service
The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham is continuing its community lunch service with new safety modifications to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. There are approximately 50 members of the community, that do not live at the Center of Hope, that depend on The Salvation Army for a warm lunch Monday through Friday.
This lunch service is now being served from our mobile canteen feeding truck on the Center of Hope campus. Every day at 1 PM, our staff serve warm lunch meals from the canteen to our community friends. Normally, we would serve this meal in our dining hall but this helps promote social distancing and protects our shelter residents.
“Our community lunch service may look a little different due to the pandemic, but thankfully we are still able to serve a warm meal each day to those in our community that need it the most,” said Major Charles Powell, Area Commander.
