The Salvation Army in Vicksburg has been providing a wide range of programs and services throughout Claiborne, Issaquena, Sharkey and Warren counties since 1902. Each year we help thousands of men, women, children, veterans, seniors and families. The Salvation Army currently provides the following programs and services to our communities:
Emergency Assistance Programs: Our Social Services Programs provide emergency assistance in the form of rent, utility, clothing and furniture to help households that are facing a crisis situation.
Emergency Disaster Services: The Salvation Army is one of the first aid agencies to respond when a disaster strikes. Mobile feeding units, or canteens, are mobilized to provide around-the-clock meals to survivors and first responders. In addition, The Salvation Army provides clean-up personal care kits, bottled water, donations of clothing and furnishings, spiritual counseling and emotional support.
Emergency Food Assistance: The Salvation Army provides food assistance through our Food Pantry with the distribution of grocery food boxes filled with perishable and non-perishable foods that can be prepared into around one week worth of nutritious meals.
Mission 66 Diner: The Mission 66 Diner serves hot lunches every weekday. The program is geared toward senior citizens but no one is ever turned away.
Youth Programs: We offer a number of programs for the children in our community, such as after-school programs, tutoring, organized recreation, summer camps and character-building groups.
Holiday Programs: Every Christmas season our Angel Tree and Holiday Emergency Assistance Programs work to ensure a happy holiday for everyone in our community.
We are dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and families in crisis situations in a loving and Christian manner and treat every person coming through our doors with dignity, respect and confidentiality.
