• Be a Shield

Our volunteers are critical partners in helping us fulfill our promise of “Doing the Most Good” in our local community.

Volunteers

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the year for groups or individuals.

DAILY NEEDS:

Food Pantry Assistance: Volunteers are needed at our Administration & Social Services Building every weekday 8:30am – 4:30pm (We are closed from 12:00pm – 1:00pm for lunch). Volunteers must be willing to sort pantry items, restock store inventory and sort through donations.

Donation Center Assistance: The Donation Center is where community members drop off their gently used goods to fill our Family Store and help those in need. Volunteers must be willing to sort through donations, hang clothes, check electronics, and help unload vehicles with donations.

Food/Clothing Drive: Organize a fundraiser, clothing drive or canned food drive within your organization. The Jackson Command provides groceries to over 128 families per week, and we rely on the help from the public to keep the shelves full and ready to supply these needs. We also rely heavily on gently used clothing in our Family Store, where the profits directly support our local programs.

EVENT NEEDS:

Souper Bowl: Super Bowl Sunday (10 am – 2 pm). Various restaurants in the Jackson area provide soup for Souper Bowl to help raise money for our feeding programs. Volunteer responsibilities may include serving soup, bussing tables, monitoring check-in tables, assisting with silent auction, clean up, etc.
