The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will host a silent auction and luncheon on May 19, 2016 at The Club. The luncheon will feature special guest speaker, Ms. Karen Abercrombie, the actress who portrays the spicy 80-year old prayer warrior, Miss Clara, in the Kendrick Brothers latest film, War Room. The event will feature a “Purses, Etc.” silent auction beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the luncheon and guest speaker at 11:30 a.m. Guests are invited to stay for a meet and greet with Ms. Abercrombie after the luncheon.
Ms. Abercrombie is an award winning actress, singer-songwriter and a Parents’ Choice Award winning storyteller. For this role, she received the 2016 Movieguide Grace Award for the most inspiring and outstanding performance by an actress in a film. Additionally, she has guest starred on several television shows and most recently, CBS’s new show, The Inspectors. She has also guest starred on Judging Amy, Alley McBeal, Saved by The Bell, Strong Medicine and she played recurring character, Aberdeen, on AMC’s TV show, Turn. Ms. Abercombie also has a starring role in a new movie coming out on May 3, 2016 called, God’s Compass.
The Women’s Auxiliary in Birmingham is a volunteer and fundraising service group that assists The Salvation Army with all its programs. All proceeds from the event will support programming for the hundreds of women and children served each year. Tickets are $50 per person or a table for (8) guests is $400.
