The Birmingham Salvation Army provides several services that address food and economic challenges during the COVID -19 pandemic. Our drive-through food pantry is available for any Jefferson County resident in need of food. Food is distributed every Wednesday and Thursday, 9 AM-11 AM at the Center of Hope, located at 2015 26th Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35234. Please note that you must provide photo ID and proof of residency in Jefferson County (Includes a 2020 a lease or rent agreement or utility bill, including power, gas or water bill). Households may receive groceries weekly.
You also may be eligible to receive financial assistance in paying your rent, mortgage, and/or utility bills. This assistance is available for families or individuals residing in Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Chilton Counties. Please contact The Salvation Army at 205.328.4536 Monday – Friday between 9 AM – 4 PM for more information.
The following information is required for financial assistance:
1. Proof of loss of wages due to COVID-19 (Letter proving layoff, furlough, or loss of job due to closure)
2. Photo ID
3. Past due utility bill with your name or spouse’s  name
4. Copy of rent or mortgage agreement with late payment notice or eviction notice
5. Only one person per household may apply for financial assistance
